JC, this is an important clinical guide that cuts across so many specialties. You will need to work across the literature: infectious disease and epidemiology, as well as touch on the wildlife literature that tracks the two vectors: white tailed deer and white footed wood mice.

Finally, you will need to summarize the guidance from the CDC and state health agencies. You can focus on DC/VA/MD, because this is your geographical setting.

I think it would be interesting for you to discuss new treatment protocols or medications that are currently being developed. This may broaden the scope of your discussion but it may be interesting to see what new approaches are being developed.

JC, will your guide focus on diagnosing the disease and recognizing the signs? Or is the debate over how to treat the disease once it is recognized?

Either way, this seems to be more of a physician guide then a seminar paper. Unless you can find current research to open the paper with before discussing the specifics of treatment.

Very interesting topic especially if you can narrow down your topic and audience.

This is a very relevant paper, especially in MD. MD is one of the twelve states where Lyme disease is prominent in community settings. I would recommend adding a small section on antibiotic resistance. Maybe state that physicians should be aware that prescribing too many antibiotics can actually be dangerous. I think this section could be a good warning, and it will make the paper more complete.
