FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL: Magnus Opus and Exigence > Why We Need More Funding for Alzheimer's Disease

Audience: Senators of the state of Maryland and the general public

Context: Scientists find themselves having major road blocks when it comes to developing a potential cure or treatment for Alzheimer's disease due to lack of necessary research funding. This funding is crucial as more groundbreaking research is being collected that shows promise in treating Alzheimer's disease. In addition, there exists a general lack of knowledge amongst the public when it comes to Alzheimer's disease. Thus, the public is very unaware of the detrimental effects of the disease and that they are all at potential risk for developing the disease later in life without even knowing. By promoting the awareness of the disease to the general public, people would feel more inclined to donate more funding towards Alzheimer's research.

Purpose: To promote the awareness and dire need of research funding for Alzheimer's disease.

S, you can write this for your two MD senators and MD congressional rep. But, I am also noting that you have interest in writing for the general public. Writing for the public is important and yet, not as easy as the work would appear. Still, if you wish to do this, you may consider the AP biology audience. This is a young but generalist audience so they can be reached with some curriculum materials.

I know you are deeply interested in this topic. Perhaps we can meet to find an audience scenario that fits your interests and is plausible given your current authority on the topic.

One possibility is to work through a number of related Wikipedia entries: you would edit them for current information. In this way, you would be supporting the audience that searches for information on the web. Let's chat.
