FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL: Magnus Opus and Exigence > Case Study of Water Sanitation and Hygiene in Nepal

Working Title: Case Study of Water Sanitation and Hygiene in Nepal

Audience: Public Health without Borders

Context: At baseline, Nepal is affected by poor water supply and sanitation due to frequent monsoons. This leads to diarrheal diseases and even lower respiratory infections. However, the most drastic change occurred during the earthquake in 2015; rates of diarrheal disease increased after the earthquake due to destruction of infrastructure.

Purpose: The purpose is to provide Public Health without Borders a case study on the background of Nepal's water and sanitation conditions before and after the earthquake. This research will also propose interventions.

S, be sure to check with Public Health without Borders, as well as Engineers without Borders. Look at how they handle the case studies for possible interventions. You can model after those documents.

Be sure to use international NGO sources, too. Focus primarily on establishing the baseline as you say.

You may also want to look at least briefly on how to approach such an intervention with courtesy and sensitivity. In this way, you will also think about cultural sensitivity, to respect the needs of this country. Part of this work will be to also look at language barriers.

I would like to put you in touch with a former student. Be sure to remind me, so we can share contact information.
