FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL: Magnus Opus and Exigence > A Research Proposal and Grant Application for Identifying Correlations Between Reward Motivation and Decision Stress

Working Title: A Research Proposal and Grant Application for Identifying Correlations Between Reward Motivation and Decision Stress

Audience: A research grant review board.

Context: Motivation psychology is a hot field, but one rarely approached from a physiological perspective. Brain imaging techniques such as fMRI have opened the way to quantification and localization of brain activity. In combination with well documented techniques such as skin-conductance response measurement, this allows us to approach the reward motivation - decision stress link from a new perspective.

Purpose: We aim to identify and quantify the connection between reward motivation and activation of stress/fear producing regions in the brain. To this end we will review the existing literature, propose an experimental study, document intended materials and methods of operation, and present the proposal for review.

H,
I thought of another setting for this document that is related to your work in another class. What if you write a similar document for my class that is designed for you to apply for a student research position on campus. You can use the document as an example of how you can work through complex information to design an experiment to test your hypotheses.

This would mean that you scale your ideas toward something realistic for an undergraduate student in a campus research setting.

Does that appeal to you? You may want to look at some of the labs, as one way to imagine an audience.
