FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL: Magnus Opus and Exigence > Options for Sustainable Fashion in the 21st Century
CS, really important and I am glad you are staying in a sustainability topic. Be sure to check out the writings of Jo Paoletti in American students. Other search terms that will help you look at the peer reviewed literature and academic conversation include:
material culture
supply chains (lots on sport shoes!)
fair trade fashion
You may find UNDP literature and WTO literature, too.
But, I see you will also teach people approaches to styling/living simply:
blogs
instagram
Reddit threads and other digital communities
sewing
upcycling
And, you can offer advise on using ebay, etsy, and other places to locate vintage....plus guidance on thrifting...
You can interview me, if you like, for some quotes (I will likely mask my name). Been thrifting, sewing, since the 70s.

This document will be targeted at a contemporary audience, mostly people in their teens and early adult years.
Context:
"Fast fashion", a runway-to-rack process, is a common feature of major stores such as H&M and Forever 21. Many "millennial" and "Gen Z" consumers are trying to be more conscious of their lifestyle choices, in terms of personal costs and long-term environmental impact. Beyond going "vegan" and DIY-ing creative projects, many people are looking to invest in good-quality clothing and accessories.
Up-cycling clothes, buying vintage/used clothing, and hand-sewing clothes have become more popular in recent years.
Purpose:
I will discuss the merits and shortcomings of various strategies to combat "fast fashion". I hope that readers will be able to make responsible choices in purchasing clothes.
