FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL: Magnus Opus and Exigence > A Guide to Effective Communication in Pharmaceutical Settings

Audience: Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, particularly those who are still in school and training and preparing for clinical rotations involving patient interactions.

Context: Effective communication between patients and practitioners is very important as even a small lapse in communication can put the patient in grave danger. For example, in pharmacies, pharmacists are often the last checkers of treatment administration before the patient receives their medication. Communication between pharmacists and their patients can help to ensure that patients are not taking any medicines that they aren't supposed to. Also, cultural barriers are often overlooked in medicine. This paper will discuss communication barriers that can often exist in pharmacies, and how to overcome them in order to provide excellent patient care and minimize danger to patients.

Purpose: To provide a guide for pharmacies to effectively communicate with patients.

DOCUMENT TYPE: A written guide that will help future and current pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
