FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL: Magnus Opus and Exigence > Strength and Body Composition Considerations in Trained Athletes

Audience:
This document will be addressed towards an audience with a general working knowledge of physical fitness practices and procedures.

Context:
Athletes that are training to maximize strength while maintaining a competent level of athleticism may find literature proposing “bulking” followed by a “cut” or that of body recomposition. This document will aim to answer/frame the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of these different approaches based on variable circumstances (age, gender, weight, training experience, etc) and offer appropriate recommendations.

Purpose:
The purpose of this document is to highlight the pros and cons of different body composition approaches while maximizing strength and then to offer appropriate recommendations based on several variable attributes that would apply to different trainees.

Document Type:
This document will be an audience-friendly compilation of the literature surrounding strength and body composition - composed as a word document.

Design/format:
The document will begin by introducing the audience to different body composition approaches. After introducing them I will reference various studies and their findings regarding the efficacy of that approach and finally suggest when it may be applicable/promote the most desirable outcome for a trainee.

Citation style:
I will use a combination of APA citations and curated referral links where appropriate.

R -- fascinating! And, needs to be narrowed for this assignment and end-of-semester craziness. :)

I am not sure you can speak to all audiences of athletes. And, perhaps, begin by focussing on serious amateurs. Then, select two or three to offer contrasts: swimmers (lean but cardiovascular), tri-athletes (balance running, cycling, swimming needs with endurance), and weight lifters.

Other ways to narrow: what are your preferences?

What technical literature will you use: studies on slow twitch, fast twitch, resistance training /core conditioning, VO2Max and oxygen use by activities?

Looking forward to hearing your plans.
