FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL: Magnus Opus and Exigence > Phase mixing in weakly collisional plasmas

Audience: Researchers in plasma physics.

Context: One of the most prominent motivations of this work is that there is recent research that suggests phase mixing (caused by particles streaming freely along magnetic field lines) in weakly collisional plasmas can be suppressed by turbulence. A good question is, does this effect also apply to phase mixing induced by magnetic drifts? To explore this nonlinear territory, a basic understanding of the physics in the linear regime is required.

Purpose: To answer relevant questions about magnetic drift phase mixing in the linear regime.

Document type: Research article.

Format: Introduction, section on background material, two body sections, conclusion, appendices

Citation style: APA.
