FINAL PROJECT:Structures and Arguments > Chemical Looping Combustion and the Effects of Material Structure on Reaction Efficiency

Beginning: I will hook the audience with a brief description about that the amount of carbon emissions present in modern times. This will require an additional source since I do not have an adequate source in my current bibliography. Once I set the tone about current environmental issues, I will present one of the current methods to remedy this problem: carbon capture and sequestration technology. This will shift the outlook from gloomy to positive. I will end the beginning portion of my document by indicating the specific mode of carbon capture and sequestration technology that I am describing: Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC)

Middle: I plan on citing sources that describe the feasibility and advantages of Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC) in order to effectively describe this technology. I will use a variety of sources to answer the following questions:

1) What are the products of this reaction and how does CLC effectively sequester carbon dioxide?
2) What materials are involved in this process (i.e. oxygen storage materials)?

These two questions will involve past research in this field, along with my current research with a specific perovskite material used for oxygen storage and transport in CLC.

End: I will end this document with additional sources that confirm the findings in my current research and results, what the findings implicate in further research in oxygen storage materials, and how my research is relevant to a particular graduate program.

Logos: Logos will be permeated throughout the document since I will using previous research to paint the picture of carbon emissions, carbon capture technologies, and future directions of research in this field.

Pathos: Mentioning the environmentally damaging effects of carbon dioxide emissions will effectively lend pathos to the document and hook the audience.

Ethos: Whenever I cite my sources, I will include the names of the researchers and universities to give the claims more credence.

Structure: I will first introduce a problem in current research, how my research helps fill this gap, what future research is needed, and how it is relevant to the graduate programs I am applying to

B, glad you can develop this, along with other elements into a graduate school application and prep document. Go CHEMTERPS!

They may ask you about Dr. Doyle. He is really famous, so be prepared for that.
