FINAL PROJECT:Structures and Arguments > Learning to Play Fighting Games at a Competitive Level
S,
Is this also for a group on campus? If so, then some parts of the document will need to be for that purpose too.
Did you find Jane?

Can you make the comparison to LARP? Society for Creative Anachronism?
We had something unusual on campus years ago called Markland.

Be sure to see JM's pages and include some definition work on gamification. Ask me why in class.

Middle: Main instructions on practicing, namely in-game solo practice options and playing against other humans. Playing against other people will expand into the progression of learning skills: mashing buttons, flow between offence and defense, control of space, and simultaneous decision making by both players.
End: Return to context of tournament play, some notes on the functioning, monetization, and etiquette of tournaments. Glossary and curated additional sources.
Logos: Facts on the scale of the industry and competitions. Later sections in the middle will account for more quantitative description of game mechanics in terms of frames, albeit in general terms.
Pathos: Capitalize early on the fun of the game in spite of how daunting learning may be. Gradually move to emphasize pride in competence at skills.
Ethos: Include personal experience from my learning process, and arrange information and sources in a way that the reader will be able to intuitively follow.
Structure: Anecdote at beginning, then introduce the basic concepts. Sequential sections on the different skills and then the tournament environment. Then other matter like glossary and other sources.
Goal: To teach about fighting games, but more importantly, to inform a player as they practice.
