FINAL PROJECT:Structures and Arguments > Don't be Left Gasping for Air: A Patient Guide for Asthma Treatments When a Rescue Inhaler is Not Available

Beginning: I will begin my patient guide by giving a brief background on what asthma exactly is in general (basic facts, statistics, and a brief definition). Next, I will then dive more specifically into how asthma can be triggered by cold weather, and/or exercise.

Middle: I will provide information on what an asthma attack is and what occurs during an asthmatic episode. In will go over the risk factors associated with asthma. Next, I will review the symptoms (in depth) and discuss a variety of techniques that can be used to manage an asthmatic episode. I will specifically list multiple techniques, along with directions, on how to minimize an asthma attack without a rescue inhaler present. In addition, this patient guide will include exercises that will be important and necessary for the asthmatic patient to complete during an asthma attack in order to ease their symptoms.

End: I will finish with coping mechanism for family members, teachers, and friends of asthmatic patients. I will also include other sources, such as books, videos, and websites that may include other valid techniques to manage asthma. In addition, the other sources that I will provide will be a good resource for asthmatic patients and their family, teachers, and friends to find more information to address their possible concerns.

Ethos: There will be credibility coming from (1) Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, (2) American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology, and (3) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Logos: Using data/statistics from Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology on the prevalence of asthma, as well as statistical data on the success of various non-medicinal treatability of asthma.

Pathos: Relieve suffering, as well as treat respiratory disease that affects people of all ages.

Good plan. You might want to begin with the shocking story two weeks ago of thunderstorm asthma in Australia. Look for this.

Also, what about caffeine? Even smoking (ask me).

Finally, can you find any information on the ethics of borrowing an inhaler or epipen? I can talk to you more about this.
