FINAL PROJECT:Structures and Arguments > Malaria in Ghana

Beginning:
I will start off the document with one real story of an individual who contracted malaria after traveling to Ghana. Will use it to intro why it is so crucial to watch out and take preventative measures for malaria. Will also include quantitative information. How many people visit Ghana each year and how many American travelers to Ghana have contracted and died from malaria.
Middle:
The middle of my document will have a few sections. One section will break down malaria as a disease, it's symptoms, and it's vector (mosquitos). I will use sources such as the CDC and WHO and Ghana health ministry so that it can be explained for a lay audience. I will then give tips to prevent malaria such as taking medication every day, wearing long pants at night, etc. I will follow with advice for treatment if one does contract malaria and immediate signs to look for. Lastly I will talk about regions where the mosquitos are more prevalent and how climate change plays a role in this.
End:
I will give another couple examples of individuals who contracted malaria. I will tie this to other areas of the document and how each case would have been better if they had taken better precaution. Will emphasize the seriousness of malaria, and how important it is to be aware of it. Suggest that they visit a travel clinic for malaria medication and further advice.
LOGOS:
Statistics about the cases of malaria and the deaths from malaria. The details about the disease and its symptoms.
PATHOS:
The different stories of people who suffered from malaria.

ETHOS:
Credibility of the CDC, WHO, Ghana health service, myself

STRUCTURE:
1. Informative section about malaria and another informative section about the effect of climate change.
2. A guide to advise about prevention, warn about symptoms, and take precaution if disease is contracted
GOAL: Guide the engineer without borders group to being aware of the dangers of malaria and taking precaution to prevent getting the disease.

You have a good structure here. YET, your title suggests a huge book of the ENTIRE situation.

What about this:

Malaria Risk in Ghana: 2016 Travel Guide for UMD Engineers Without Borders

I think that you need to drill down into practicalities. Do not suggest visiting a travel clinic....INSIST.

Consider the last third of the document as directions, including supplies (Deet, travel bed nets, etc.) as well as the required shots with prices and time frame.

Think of EVERYTHING they will need on this service trip.
