FINAL PROJECT:Structures and Arguments > To reveal the effectiveness of the current AAD treatment guideline, specifically the hemodynamic management aspect, on patient outcome.

Beginning: Given the medical school seminar format, the beginning of the paper will be the ‘I’ of the IMRAD format. Present shocking statistics on hypertension + AAD to catch the audience’s attention. Present definitions for what the medical field sets as hypertension/hypotension, give background on AAD, and present what current AAD treatment guideline is. Then, I will propose the purpose of the paper: To reveal the effectiveness of the current AAD treatment guideline, specifically the hemodynamic management aspect, on patient outcome.

Middle: Given the medical school seminar format, the body of the paper will be the ‘MR’ of the IMRAD format. For the methods, I will talk about how this retrospective study on the effectiveness of our current guideline will be performed. Then I will talk about the results of our findings.

End: Given the medical school seminar format, the ending of the paper will be the ‘AD’ of the IMRAD format. For the A/D, I will talk about the results/discussion of the results and how it reveals the the effectiveness of the current AAD treatment guideline, specifically the hemodynamic management aspect, on patient outcome.

LOGOS: Data from the peer-reviewed papers on AAD treatments, information on how ‘effectiveness’ is determined (in-hospital mortality rates and days of hospital stay)

PATHOS: Relieving patient’s anxiety with AAD diagnosis

ETHOS: Used many peer-reviewed papers as references and will present medical school seminar from respected institution (UMD Medical School)

STRUCTURE: IMRAD

GOAL: To reveal the effectiveness of the current AAD treatment guideline, specifically the hemodynamic management aspect, on patient outcome.

Has the UMD presentation already happened? Slides? Discussion? You can cite that information, too.
