FINAL PROJECT:Structures and Arguments > Physiology and Welfare of Aging Roosters

Beginning: Explain exigence of aging chicken health, introduce ideas of correlating external features with internal health, and summarize findings of other research and how this study is different

Middle: Summarize methods, using technical terms (the taking of the IR photos, the handling of the chickens, the weighing and measuring of the body parts, the temperature analysis of the photos). Report results of study using technical terms.

End: Analyze results of the study and discuss what they mean in the context of the real world. Discuss surprising results and why they may have occurred. Explore future directions for research.
Write set of directions in more detail for workplace documentation that describes how to use the FLIR thermal IR camera and the software that accompanies it for analysis.

LOGOS: Scientific research articles using similar methods for both the measurement of organs and also the analysis of thermal photos. Also, I will use the FLIR- provided instructions for additional guidance.

PATHOS: Appeal to the welfare of animals, ethical care of chickens. Directions – appeal to the difficulty of dealing with confusing and complex technology.

ETHOS: credibility of previously published papers that I got my background info from, credibility of University and my PI, credibility of my semester’s use of FLIR technology

STRUCTURE: 2 part structure: IMRAD, set of directions/workplace documentation

GOAL: inform about results of research study, summarize complex directions for using FLIR thermal IR technology.
