FINAL PROJECT:Structures and Arguments > Investigating Pulse Transit Time Biometric Signal Pairs to Continuously Monitor Blood Pressure

Beginning:
-Present the problem of hypertension in America as well as the need for critical care continuous monitoring of BP
-Help patients track BP and reduce Dr’s office visits
-Introduce traditional blood pressure measurement tools and describe their limitations
-Describe the current capability of wearable tech
-New AHA levels of hypertensions down to 130/90
-Lower threshold to start patient’s concern over their BP early before it progresses, leading to heart disease.

Middle:

-Describe biometric sensors and their mechanisms for recording data
PPG, EKG, Accelerometer
-Introduce pulse transit time as a solution for continuous BP measurement
-biophysics principles of PTT
-Describe signal pairs that can be used as proximal and distal timing references
-Sensor location and comfort
-Finapres is an existing tech for continuous bp measurement
------Expensive, large and cumbersome
-introduce the phone sensor method

End:
-clarify that this is a synthesis of existing research
-not at the device development stage yet

-Conclude literature review with describing the need for testing biometric sensor pair pulse transit time signal processing
-Segue into methodology and proposed
-Potential applications for this technology
-Clinical settings
-Wearable tech
-Telemedicine
-Patient security over the internet, hacking
-Fitbit style blood pressure measurement tools

Logos
-data on high blood pressure prevalence
-data on pulse transit time
-methods by which ptt can be recorded
-how the sensors we're using work

Ethos
-Credibility of researcher in the field and the quality of their data

Structure
-I will structure this as a literature review with each topic getting its own section

Goal
Introduce the premise of my project as well as the societal benefits of the applications of the researched technology
