FINAL PROJECT:Structures and Arguments > A Household Guide to Mini-Pig Ownership

Beginning: hook audience with a fun story about Henry (my pig) and then inform the reader that there is a lot of effort that goes into having a pig (it’s not all fun and games!)

Middle: teach the reader how to properly raise a pet pig by using different websites that provide information on pig care and my own knowledge of how I have raised a happy indoor pig

End: wrap up by suggesting that the reader seriously consider the pros and cons of pig ownership presented in this document; sent the reader to the American Mini-Pig Association website for further reading should they choose to adopt a pig or need more information

Logos: just like cats are different from dogs, pigs are an entirely different breed of pet that require new knowledge on how to train and care for

Pathos: pigs are extremely cute, so everybody wants one. However, pigs are not for everybody! One purpose of this document will be to stress the importance of NOT making an impulse decision to purchase a pig based strictly on emotions

Ethos: first-hand information from my own personal experience, paired with advice from sources that breed these pigs to sell as pets (lots of experience!)

Structure: What to know followed closely by how to do, repeated. Will contain an FAQ and at least one list. May have some headings followed by a paragraph or two pertaining to the topic of the heading.

Goal: this document will be for both those who already own pigs and those looking to own a pig. The document will adequately inform the reader (prospective owner) of the pros and cons of mini-pig ownership while also providing tips on care and how to raise a pet pig (for current owners).

Z, looks fascinating and helpful. You may want to caution readers about the "last" pet pig fad, concerning the pot-bellied pig (Vietnamese, perhaps?).

Ask me about incorporating the personal experience. You could reserve some commentary in each section for that. Using first person, you could briefly comment on your experiences with Henry. Italics would be a good design feature to make that clear.

Other than that, you would want to provide authoritative, evidence-based information where you can. Will you use referral links and natural language citation?
