FINAL PROJECT:Structures and Arguments > A College Student's Guide to Successfully Applying to Physician Assistant School

Beginning: Include one quote from a current physician assistant to hook the attention of the readers and provide an introduction to what college students can expect from this guide. Define the term “physician assistant” for students.

Middle: The middle is the largest section since the document will be lemon-shaped. Include sections detailing the process of applying to PA school from choosing a major to actually applying to schools. Use one research finding about the cost of PA school and two research findings from national PA organizations. Gather research from reputed sources but adapt the language for a lay audience.

End: Address FAQs from students in the pre-PA society at UMD. Acknowledge limits to this document and recommend other helpful resources for students to use, including blogs from current PAs and advising at their universities.

LOGOS: 1) Facts from reputed institutions of the AAPA and AASPA; 2) PA applicant and matriculant data from the nationally recognized PAEA; 3) financial burden of PA school statistics

PATHOS: Inspirational quotes about the joy of serving patients from current PAs

ETHOS: Credibility of the national PA organizations AAPA, AASPA, and PAEA; quotes from current physician assistants; links to other reputed websites

A, what a good plan you have here. Will these be separate documents in a google drive, for the student Pre PA association? Or will you write as one document with many subsections and then decide?

Be sure to be clear about the clinical course/shadowing required. More than in many pre-health programs. Students are often caught unaware and need additional year to gather the hours.
