FINAL PROJECT: Abstract and Reader's Reponse > A Student Guide to Relieving Stress for College Students, One Step Closer to a Memorable Four Years

ABSTRACT: I will be opening my paper with a flyer from the health center stating that this year, 1 in 3 terps will feel too depressed to function. I will discuss the magnitude and implications associated with this statistic. I will further address what stress means, its physiological pathway, and its consequences on the development of mental illness and health. I will discuss the types of stress and what symptoms to look for in diagnosing perceived stress levels. I will further discuss how stress is a college culture and its effects goes unnoticed on many campuses. I will also be explaining how the college lifestyle can contribute to chronic stress and what the implications associated with chronic stress are. I will move on to talk about the ways we can relieve stress through meditation, yoga, and exercise. I will also suggest some more ways to relieve stress and where to find research on them.
READER’S RESPONSE: I really like the structure of the paper, but how will you discern which form of stress relief would be perfect for a college student and which one would not be. Is there a criteria that you would be following because I would suggest addressing that in the paper to build more ethos, pathos, and logos.
