Abstract: Soccer is gaining popularity in the U.S. as seen with TV broadcast companies like NBC buying broadcasting rights for the English soccer league. Due to this growing popularity, more and more Americans are buying and playing the FIFA video game to get more involved with soccer. With close to 4 million hours of game play conducted a day; FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) is becoming the main game mode in the FIFA franchise. As a result of this game play, I will be creating a guide to help FUT beginners in creating a successful team without the need to invest real money to buy players, which many do because they think that is the only way to make a good team. My goal is to try to convince FIFA players that FUT is fun and an enjoyable game mode without the need of real money. Along with this, I want my guide to help convince people to try and play FUT due to the entertainment the game mode provides. The guide in the background section will serve to advise new players of the risks associated with video games in general, which are game addiction and gambling associated with packs. The actual guide will contain instructions on what kinds of players to use for defense, midfield, and offense along with tips on how to get coins. The guide will end with some good resources to consult to know how to choose players and how to save money on players within the game.

Reader’s Profile: I picture an extreme soccer fan who watches all the European league games every weekend who is skeptical in trying FUT because of the risks associated with video games. Due to the fact he or she is worried about investing real money in the game in trying to make progress. They will argue that the game mode is just another way for EA to make more money because buying tons of game packs is the only way to make a strong team.

Reader’s Response: I should make a FUT because it is entertaining? Why would I do that just to expand my soccer experience that I am already satisfied with. This game seems like a complete waste of time and I would rather just watch soccer games in my free time. If I am super bored I will just start watching another soccer league.
