FINAL PROJECT: Abstract and Reader's Reponse > Undergraduate Research and Work Statement

My research and work statement is a statement summarizing my research experiences at UMD. I have included m experiences in the academia as well as in the biotechnology industry. Throughout my undergraduate career, I have strived to gain academic as well as practical knowledge by holding research positions with Canon US Life Sciences (Canon Biomedical) and the Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Maryland. In the process, I have co-authored one Developmental Biology paper and given several presentations, both at US Canon Life Sciences and at The University of Maryland. I have also invested my time in developing and mentoring fellow students by holding the position of a Teaching Assistant (TA) for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Maryland. The statement also mentions the various biochemical techniques that I am proficient in and mentions one faculty member whose research appeals me the most. Per the requirements set by the Graduate Admissions at UMD, I have also described in the statement, one situation while doing research that made me lose motivation and how I overcame this low moment. Thus, my statement not only goes over my research and work experiences, but also showcases my ability to overcome a dull situation.

A, can you imagine a skeptical reader? Do you look perfect? Too perfect?

Does your application show any aspects of hobbies or recreation? You might keep a list of those activities so that you can talk about them in the interview.
