It has been widely established that daily stress has aversive effects on an individual's health. Recent studies have found that the perception of an individual's daily stressors can increase or decrease the intensity of these aversive effects. Individuals who evaluate their daily stressors as very severe tend to experience a higher mortality, and unhealthy physical responses to stress. Non-pharmacological interventions and the modulation of attitudes toward stress has been proven to manage and reduce the aversive effects of stress. Mindfulness and meditation are evidence based methods that can aid in this reduction of stress.
Reader's Profile:
A reader that is more convinced by methods that involve tangible items (Such as medicine/physical exercise etc).
Reader's Response:
If the effects of stress are more intensified by the personality of the individual and they way they react to stressors, then shouldn't these effects be nearly impossible to reverse considering personality is hardwired in our neural networks? Additionally, why pursue the non-pharmacological methods that may or may not work when medicine exits that has been clinically proven to alleviate stress and anxiety?
