FINAL PROJECT: Abstract and Reader's Reponse > Opioid Overdose and Opioid Use Disorder in Emergency Department Hospital Settings: A (mock) Medical School Seminar Paper for a Public Health Rotation
Abstract:Abstract Hospitals have a unique opportunity to engage and treat patients transported to the emergency department (ED) following opioid overdose as well as those with opioid use disorder presented at the emergency department. However, only a few hospitals have on-call peer recovery coaches to engage overdose survivors and other patients with opioids or other substance use problems. Therefore, this medical document provides a synopsis of treatment programs and diseases associated with opioid overdose and opioid use disorders.

Reader's profile: I imagine a reader to not take my medical seminar paper seriously since I am have not dealt with opioid addiction in an emergency room setting.
Reader Response: Maybe if the writer provided more resources for overdose patients and opioid use disorders in an emergency room setting, the seminar paper will be great. The hospital I will be practicing my residency at should try to practice reading AnchorED and LOOP as stated in the paper to see if this will help decrease overdoses and diseases in the area. I wonder are there more outcome of diseases from opioid use disorders since the writer only listed two. I will read more diseases and see if this will be reliable.
